Minecraft cottage blueprint: before you build

A timber cottage with a steep roof and garden details. The compact footprint suits a forest clearing or a small survival settlement. Gather the roof and wall materials separately so you can work upward without repeatedly sorting your inventory.

This original design uses 1,946 blocks across 16 layers, with a 25 × 25 block footprint. The blueprint targets Minecraft Java 1.21.4; it is a building reference, not a schematic or an automatic game import.

Building sequence

  1. Clear a level site using the footprint shown above. Leave a walking gap around the outside to reach the walls.
  2. Use the foundation layer to mark the corners, then build the timber frame and wall courses. Match window openings to the layer map.
  3. Work up the roof one layer at a time. Switch to top view when placing the overhangs, then add the garden details last.

How to read the layers

Layer 1 is the bottom of the blueprint. The map looks down from above, with north at the top. Toggle “Isolate layer” to see only the current level, or leave it off to see the supporting structure underneath. Empty cells mean no block is placed at that position.

Read the builder’s handbook for coordinates, material stacks and JSON exports, or explore the other designs.
